WORKING WITH ROGER

What to expect from therapy?

I appreciate that every journey is unique and the commitment you make to emotional health is deeply personal and requires courage. I applaud you taking this first step.

A course of therapy is as unique as the individual and tailored to your concerns. It begins with an assessment of what’s happening now, what’s happened in the past and identifies what you’d like to see happen in your future.

We then choose a path forward. This may involve EMDR, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, or other evidenced based methods. Depending on the individual, a combination of these approaches is desirable and allows flexibility in our ability to address things as they arise in the present.

As we explore your story we will also tune in to the body to understand the clues that it gives you about your emotions, trauma responses, and your sense of wellbeing. When triggering and reactivity are part of the struggle, therapy emphasizes personal safety. We achieve this by developing coping skills, relaxation techniques, mindfulness meditation and other strategies. Safety and stability set the stage for healing.

“I always leave a session with Roger feeling more clear than when I enter. Roger asks key questions that illuminate my internal landscape, so I can navigate it better. He also helps foster a respect for that internal landscape, with all of its hills, valleys, twists, and turns. With Roger, I feel like my heart, mind, and soul are in excellent hands.”

“Roger has always provided a welcoming and safe environment for our sessions. This allowed me to feel comfortable and willing to open up to work on the “difficult thing” that I had carried for many years.”
